Getting to Maui
You'll want to fly into Maui's main airport OGG. If flying from the mainland, there are many direct flights from the West coast to Maui. Flights from the East coast usually have a layover somewhere on the West coast.
Some flights, (especially international flights from Asia) arrive first at Honolulu (HNL), the capital of Hawaii. This is on the island of Oahu. To get from Oahu to Maui, you have to take another flight. Luckily there are many, every hour or so.
In terms of getting around, if you want to explore a lot of the island you'll likely want to rent a car. However if you're planning to just stay in the general vicinity of the resort, you can always just take a taxi to the hotel (Uber is available, but generally just around the resort areas).
